Why hasn’t Lil Wayne been able to make a real comeback?

This is something I’ve been wondering for a while. Lil Wayne is an all-time great, and an artist of his level should be able to drop an album and have it feel like an *event*. But for his last few releases, there’s basically been… nothing. No real buzz, no cultural moment, no lasting impact.

The only time his recent work seems to get attention is when people are clowning lines like *“peanut to an elephant.”* Outside of that, it feels like his albums come and go.

What makes it more confusing is when you compare him to someone like Eminem. Em has definitely had some misses, and personally I don’t think everything he’s done since *Relapse* is peak Em but when he drops, it’s still a big deal. There’s still hype, debate, and relevance.

So what happened with Wayne? Is it the music itself, the beat selection, his voice/flows changing, the way albums are marketed now, or just the era passing him by? Curious what people think, because it’s wild that someone who once ran hip-hop can drop and barely make a ripple now.
